PA Distance believes that the best practice of curriculum and instruction is to help learners make sense of and master skills and ideas. The school addresses the reality that different students will learn in different ways. Additionally, PA Distance provides ongoing student support throughout the year.

THE STEPS TO SUCCESS
The first step to success in distance education is to provide a comprehensive orientation to learning in an online environment and present strategies for effective study. The school and teachers clearly communicate expectations, assignment guidelines, and grading criteria.

It is understood at PA Distance that effective teaching and student success are intertwined. We encourage our teachers to establish good working relationships with students and continually monitor student progress.

The ultimate goal of our school is that our students’ success continues beyond graduation. We prepare all students for continuing and higher education through our personalized programs and one-on-one interaction as their partner in education.

ACCELERATED LEARNING

Part of individualized education is catering to our advanced learners. For this reason, PA Distance offers a wide range for academic acceleration including a variety of course choices including honors level options for high school courses. With curriculum available 24/7, students can also opt to complete independent school work at times that fit best with their schedule. Plus, extended learning opportunities are available for students to explore material in greater depth.

REMEDIATION

Sometimes a little extra help is required for students to be successful in a virtual school and a traditional brick and mortar school. PA Distance is committed to providing that extra push for student success, including:

• extra tutoring by our teachers
• teacher assisted study hall
• classes or curriculum designed to build skill levels
• intervention programs

All virtual classrooms are also recorded so that students and parents can revisit lessons, allowing students to review concepts at their own pace. Individualized education, so that each student can reach his or her potential, is a priority.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

The most important investment a parent makes in his or her child is the building blocks of a solid education.
We actively encourage parents to be involved with every aspect of the learning experience.
