PA Distance Learning Charter School provides curriculum to address the diverse educational needs of students.

Our School Curriculum Model
Kindergarten
PA Distance offers kindergarten students a multitude of cooperative learning opportunities. Daily interactive live-learning sessions are held which support socialization. Students are provided with a variety of leveled reading materials to build letter/sound recognition and vocabulary. Kindergarten students use Star Fall and the Harcourt Math series, beautifully designed curriculum that incorporates hands-on activities to support the learned skills. PA Distance also offers HeadSprout, a highly interactive Internet based program that encourages and supports emerging readers.

Grades 1-6 Curriculum
At PA Distance, our elementary students are provided with daily online instruction. The elementary curriculum combines teacher created lessons, age appropriate reading materials, and interactive activities provided by Think Central provided by the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company, Creativity Express and Tritone. Together, these offerings allow for various evaluation and feedback of content knowledge and skills which are aligned with Pennsylvania Department of Education content area standards and anchors.

Grades 7-8 Curriculum
PA Distance will offer its students online instruction via the Holt, Rinehart and Winston curriculum for Mathematics, Health, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Our 7th grade Art course uses Creativity Express online curriculum.  Aventa Learning provides middle school students with an optional World Language Survey course.  As with all online resources, PA Distance supplements these curriculum offerings with workbooks and offline projects to help students synthesize the concepts they learn.

High School Curriculum
PA Distance offers a variety of courses for high school learners, including all required courses for students to attain a high school diploma that meets or exceeds all of Pennsylvania’s graduation requirements. Electronic curriculum offerings from Holt McDougal, Aventa Learning, Creativity Express, and Plato PLE are integrated with virtual labs, workbooks, and reading materials provide an overall challenging course of study. Beyond the live learning classes offered in each course once or twice weekly, high school curriculum is available to students seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  Each semester, students consult with their Academic Advisor to select courses, which support their post-secondary plans according to a semester plan. Successful completion of a course will earn the student one-half credit toward Pennsylvania’s graduation requirements, consistently moving the student closer to earning his/her Pennsylvania high school diploma.
