 How We Are Governed
PA Distance is chartered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)
to operate as a public cyber charter school; public cyber charter schools
were enabled in Pennsylvania's by Act 22 of 1997.
The school has been operational since 2004, offering its unique distance learning program to Pennsylvania students interested in the flexibility to learn in their
environment of choice and to learn under a school program and its associated
learning opportunities that supports development at the best pace possible
for each individual student.
PA Distance is governed by a Board of Trustees, who provides oversight and
strategic direction to enable the school to provide Pennsylvania students
the values called for by the school's vision and mission. The Board is
comprised of seasoned professionals with experience in business and
industry, education and leadership. Members of the Board meet regularly with
school administration and with key school management resources, and the
Board holds regular meetings of trustees four times per year.
The Board is responsible for attaining approval by the PDE as required of
public cyber charter schools, including all required compliance reporting
and all required educational program offerings. The Board is also
responsible for enabling the financial stability and for enabling school
administration to implement continual improvement of the school program.

Where We Are Located
While our school is a digital learning environment, our staff, classrooms, and offices are located in Allegheny County in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. There, we work as a collaborative team to educate students from across the state of Pennsylvania.
Although we are a Pennsylvania cyber school, each fall we host an open house for families to come and meet the teachers, tour the facility, and get acquainted with each other. We welcome visits anytime! Just call to set up an appointment!
